Macro Express 3 should not be installed in the same folder as previous versions of Macro Express.
By default, Macro Express 3 is installed in a different folder than Macro Express 2000.
-
Macro Express 3 will read macro files created by Macro Express 2000. However, when it is opened
by Macro Express 3, the file will be converted to the Macro Express 3 format. Once converted,
Macro Express 2000 will no longer be able to open and read the file.
Note: We recommend that you copy (back up) your macro file(s) before
opening them in Macro Express 3.
- Preference settings are not converted during the upgrade process. For example:
- If you renamed the System Hot Keys in Macro Express 2000, they will be reset to their default
hot key combinations after installing version 3.
- The shortkey preference settings will not be converted when upgrading. You will need to click
on Options | Preferences | Shortkeys to select your Suffix or Prefix Key, etc.
-
The Multiple Choice Menu command now allows you to set a default value by initializing the Multiple
Choice variable prior to running the Multiple Choice Menu command. For example, if your Multiple
Choice Menu places the user's choices in %T99%, setting %T99% to "A" before the Multiple
Choice Menu command will cause your first choice in the menu to already be selected. If you are
using a variable in your Multiple Choice Menu command and it was used prior to that command,
some of your options may already be selected.
-
Macro Express 2000 shortkey macros will be imported with the "Override Global Shortkey
settings" selected. Shortkey settings will be imported for each macro.
-
In Macro Express 2000 the variables used in the ASCII File Begin/End Process commands are reset
to empty values after the processing loop is completed. In Macro Express 3 the variables retain
the values from the last time through the processing loop.
-
In Macro Express 2000, Ctrl+F initiates the Find dialog and Ctrl+S initiates the Search and
Replace. In Macro Express 3, Ctrl+F initiates the Find dialog and Ctrl+R initiates the Search
and Replace. This change was made to allow Ctrl+S to Save the macro since this is the standard
operation of Ctrl+S in most Windows programs.
