User Submitted Macro

Easy Login

Written by David G. Smith

What it does

This macro uses the Macro Express shortkeys feature to simplify login/password entry to sites that require a username/password login sequence. I keep a bunch of these in a “logins” category in my Macro Express. All you need to remember is the name of the service you want to enter (“hotmail” in the example), and Macro Express does the rest.

To install

Download the macro file umeasylogin.mex and save it to your hard drive in the folder where you store your macro file(s). Import the macro into your existing macro file by clicking File, Import, Import Macros.

To use

Edit the macro to use the username and password for the service you want to log in to. You may have to add or delete tabs depending on the application. The macro is already set up to work with Internet Explorer or Mozilla; if you use a different browser, you will want to add it to the Window Specific area in the Scope tab.

Use your browser to go to the logon screen (you probably have a bookmark set already for your most commonly-used applications). In the Username box, type the Shortkey string, but remember to use the Macro Express shortkeys prefix (set to ## by default) before you type in the entry. Macro Express will recognize the string as a shortkey and will type in your username and password, and log you in.
