Sample Macro

Tray Icon

What it does

Every now and then someone writes or calls about the ‘Mouse Move to Tray Icon’ command. The problem is that the tray is collapsed. This macro has the ability to expand the System Tray so the ‘Mouse Move to Tray Icon’ command will function properly.

To install

Download the macro file umtrayicon.mxe and save it to your hard drive where you store your macro file(s). If desired, import the macro into your existing macro file by clicking File, Import, Import a Playable Macro.

To use

If you imported it into your macro file, then you can run it from within Macro Express. Or, you can double-click on umtrayicon.mxe.

How it works

This macro gives focus to the Start menu button, tabs to the System Tray area of the task bar, and types a space to expand the System Tray. Finally, the ‘Mouse Move to Tray Icon’ command is used to move to a specific tray icon. You will want to modify this macro to move to the tray icon of your choice instead of the Volume tray icon.

Limitations

The user may need to adjust the number of tabs depending upon the number of tool bars that they have on their taskbar.

Requirements
