How Can We Help?

I cannot open the Macro Express – Explorer window.

If you are trying to start the program from the Start menu and nothing happens, here are several things to try.

    1. First, make sure that the Macro Express icon is not hidden by Windows. Click on the arrow to expand the items in the notification are (also known as the system tray). Left click on the icon to open the program window.

    2. It’s possible that the program has been set to run in a hidden mode.

Press the System Macro – Ctrl + Alt + Shift + W to open the Macro Express – Explorer window. After the program window opens, click on Options | Preferences | Appearance and select the Show in System Tray option.

    3. It is also possible that another program is interfering with Macro Express on Windows startup and preventing the icon from being placed in the system tray.

Press the System Macro – Ctrl + Alt + Shift + W to open the Macro Express – Explorer window. Click on Options | Preferences | Startup. The Run on Windows Startup option should already be selected. Select the Wait for ___ Seconds option and enter 10 in the field.

This instructs Macro Express to wait for 10 seconds at Windows startup before trying to load the icon in the system tray. You may need to experiment with this wait time, based on your system.

    4. It is possible that the window is opening off screen. This may occur when using dual monitors and the Macro Express Explorer window is set to display on monitor #2. Later the second monitor is disconnected, but the program window still opens on this monitor – now out of view.

Here are the steps to retrieve the Macro Express Explorer window if it is opening up off screen.

      • Press Alt + Space Bar
      • Click on Move from the menu that appears
      • Press one of the arrow keys
      • Move the mouse around and it should bring the window back on screen
